The Archives of the Dominican Province of St. Albert the Great preserves the historical records of the friars' ministries throughout the Midwestern United States and abroad. Through these digital exhibits, visitors can explore photographs, documents, audio recordings, publications, and other materials documenting Dominican preaching, education, parish life, and missionary work from our foundation to the present.

Mission Statement of the Province

The Dominican Friars of the Province of Saint Albert the Great communicate the word of God through preaching, theological education and the promotion of justice and peace. This mission in the body of Christ demands a vowed community life, liturgical prayer and life-long study.

St. Rose of Lima Choir Recordings

This exhibit displays the "Choir Recordings" series found within the St. Rose of Lima Priory (Dubuque, IA) Collection. It contains three recordings of the A Capella Choir of St. Rose Priory in Dubuque, Iowa, composed of student friars. The recordings were produced in 1960 by the Catechetical Guild of St. Paul, Minnesota. The titles are: "I Sing Of The Maiden A Cappella Choir of St. Rose Priory," "Sing We Now of Christmas the A Cappella Choir of St. Rose Priory," and "The Passion Of Our Lord Jesus Christ- Sung in English With a Spoken Narration by Friars Of The A Cappella Choir Of Saint Rose Priory." There are a total of eleven vinyls, with six copies of the "Passion," three of "Sing We Now of Christmas," and two of "I sing of the Maiden." These recordings demonstrate the choral training and importance of music in Dominican formation during the 1960s.
